Give Thanks With a Grateful Heart

Give Thanks With a Grateful Heart

When I was little, I remember being uncomfortable at the Thanksgiving table when my grandma would ask that we all “take the stage” and announce what we’re grateful for. “Um, I’m thankful for my cat.” It’s not that I didn’t have a laundry list of items to be thankful for; it was just difficult for me to announce my gratitude in front of an entire room of people.

I’m happy to say I’ve matured a bit since then.

Don’t get me wrong, I still have a laundry list of items to be thankful for, but I understand you have limited time to “listen” to me, so I’ll be brief. I’m grateful for my health, my family and everything we’ve accomplished together at Insight this year.

Did you know that giving recognition or showing gratitude has just as many positive impacts as receiving recognition? According to research from Northeastern University, people who feel grateful for little, everyday things are more patient and better able to make sensible decisions compared to those who don’t feel very gracious on a day-to-day basis. Showing gratitude has even been linked to better relationships, improved self-care and quality sleep.

We challenge our teammates at Insight to recognize their fellow teammates. Our recognition platform, called Recognize, allows us to come together as a company and celebrate our values of hunger, heart and harmony.

How do you recognize the people you work with?
