Give This First Impression To Employers And You'll Remain Unemployed

Most job seekers give an average first impression, even candidates who think theirs is awesome.

That's because many job seekers don't realize how their first impression is perceived by employers.

Your resume makes a first impression on employers in 6 seconds. During interviews, you make your first impression within the first 30 seconds of your first answer.

And if you're unemployed, it's even more important for you to make a strong first impression, because your next employer doesn't know why you were let go (no matter what you tell them).

Here are some ways you're making an average first impression to employers in resumes and interviews that keeps you unemployed:

  1. You're Qualified: There's a high level of job seeker competition in 2024, which means employers see a lot of qualified candidates. Portraying yourself as qualified makes you look average in employers' eyes (when so many others are qualified too).
  2. You Have A Lot Of Skills ... Need Any Of Them? It's a confusing and weak first impression, listing all the things you think you're good at, while hoping a hiring manager needs any of them. Also, it gives poor odds of getting through automated and human pre-screening.
  3. Brain Dumps: Brain dumps create a confusing first impression, and the items in them rarely get noticed. Employers usually skim resumes in the first 15 seconds, so the items you think could get you noticed are rarely seen.
  4. Summarizing Your Resume (During An Interview): It's a waste of the most important 30 seconds of your interview and wastes the interviewer's time ... they already have your resume in front of them.

Good thing there's a far better way to make a first impression in resumes and during interviews that can help you stand head-and-shoulders above your competition. Want to learn how?
