GIS gets a new look
The energy transition, offshore exploration and the drive to reduce greenhouse gas emissions have been given a significant boost with a suite of map upgrades intended to make information easier to access.?
The North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) has improved GIS applications, including Offshore activities (https://tinyurl.com/9ep7s3te), Onshore oil and gas activity (https://tinyurl.com/mr2rx5fa), ?and UKCS renewables leases (https://tinyurl.com/kkjzb2xz), to provide a new level of user experience, flexibility and functionality. ?
This upgrade future-proofs our mapping applications and provides opportunities by providing users with intuitive tools which allow them to tailor the applications to their specific needs.?
Examples include:?
The new applications can be found on the NSTA website as part of the Data and Insights (https://tinyurl.com/yeaj65xd) section. ?
“Offshore activities” is our most popular mapping application so we are keeping the two versions side by side until the new year to help users gradually adapt, at which point our website will point to the new link. We have also included a feedback questionnaire, closing at the end of February, where users can share their thoughts about the new application, helping us to make further improvements in the future.??
