GIS Engineering, LLC Awarded with Lower St. Bernard / Louisiana International Terminal Roadway?Network and Resilience Study

GIS Engineering, LLC, a subsidiary of GIS Holdings, LLC, has been awarded the Lower St. Bernard / Louisiana International Terminal Roadway Network and Resilience Study by the Regional Planning Commission (RPC). The commissioning of this study marks the next phase of the St. Bernard Transportation Corridor Project, which involves the concept of developing an elevated highway connecting the future Louisiana International Terminal with I-510, resulting in the creation of a new major route through St. Bernard Parish.?

The future Louisiana International Terminal, a $1.8 billion container terminal planned to be built by the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) in Violet, LA, will have the ability to serve vessels of all sizes and drastically increase Louisiana’s import and export capacity. This new terminal is also estimated to open over 18,000 new jobs within Louisiana and increase more $1 billion in state and local tax revenue.?

“The new terminal, along with the supporting infrastructure, will benefit residents and businesses throughout Louisiana and the nation, and will attract advanced manufacturing, agribusiness, logistics and distribution investments” stated Governor John Bel Edwards.?

The Regional Planning Commissions award of this contract is a critical step in the process of determining the feasibility of the transportation network associated with the Port of New Orleans’ proposed Louisiana International Terminal. It affords GIS Engineering, and our partners, the ability to support and assist in the advancement of this historic investment within Louisiana. The new Louisiana International Terminal, along with its supporting infrastructure, will help leverage the partnership between the State of Louisiana, Port of New Orleans, and St. Bernard Parish for future economic growth and create numerous opportunities for the many generations to come.?

“The benefits and economic impact this proposed terminal could have to our local, state, and national economy cannot be understated. Our team is eager to begin the work that will afford our local, state, and federal stakeholders to make the right decisions towards realizing these benefits that cross so many jurisdictions and have the potential to grow and improve the lives of so many in south Louisiana. The initial study is just the tip of the ice-berg and we couldn’t be more excited and ready to get started.” said Dustin Malbrough - President of GIS Engineering.
