6 年Well said! Ovbiously I missed this post on GIS Day, but what you said hits the nail on its head. I agree that we need to make GIS more accessible to people that do not understand what it is we do with our software(s) of choice. However, I see it becoming more prevalent in many sectors throughout my region as businesses are seeing the added value in the type of analysis we can provide. GIS has been around for a long time, but with the advancement in even the simplest technology, we can really open people's eyes when we take their typical tabular data they work with, and add the spatial componet and present it to them on a huge screen in a conference room. It really gets executives and many others excited, because they depend on large amounts of information which is typically hard for them to visualize and mentally digest. Making that type data visually stimulating and meaningful is our bread and butter. We keep doing that, and the gears start turning in theirs heads, and we become more valuable. This dosen't even touch on the power of mobile apps and web apps we can develop! Have a great day.
