Girls in Information & Communication Technology Day: Taking Advantage of Career Opportunities at Lidl

At Lidl, we support and acknowledge the importance of female leadership and entrepreneurship. We want to inspire girls and young women to work in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics STEM careers. We caught up with Nicole Glo? , Project Rollout Manager and Subprojectlead Authorizations at Lidl International , to learn more about her career in ICT at Lidl. ?

What has your career at Lidl been like so far? What projects have you worked on??

Nicole Glo? : I started working at Lidl in 2017 after finishing my studies in Business Consulting. During this time, I had the opportunity to work on international projects such as the development and rollout of a time-tracking system for all Lidl countries – I was the global IT business solution expert. In 2022, I changed departments and I am now working in HR, where I am responsible for international SAP projects focusing on personnel administration. I analyze and optimize country-specific HR processes and I am also the touchpoint between the Lidl countries and the? Schwarz IT department for technical and IT topics. ?

Why did you decide to work in IT? Where did your interest come from??

Nicole Glo? : Back then, my friend suggested that I explore the IT field as they thought it would suit me. I found the topic of IT interesting and there was also a demand for people in the industry at the time. As a student intern, I gained my first experience working with SAP and I became fascinated with the topic. ?

What were your reasons for switching from IT to HR??

Nicole Glo? : I already had the SAP HR knowledge? which can be utilized? in terms of developments and IT projects for HR. This way, I am more involved in the conceptual side of developing processes and gain more insights into the technical challenges in each Lidl country. ?

What skills from IT can you now apply in the International HR department??

Nicole Glo? : I bring a lot of SAP knowledge to the team. This means I have a good understanding of what will and won’t work for certain processes from a technical perspective. ?

What advice would you give to girls and young women who are interested in working in this field? ?

Nicole Glo? : Try it out as soon as you are interested, don’t hesitate. There are always opportunities to talk to people working in the field and you will continue to learn and develop with each new experience. ?

What makes working at Lidl special??

Nicole Glo? : The fact that you have so many opportunities to develop yourself further. It is always possible to change departments, which gives you the chance to gain experience and knowledge in different fields. ?
