Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia to Partner with Wesleyan College

MACON, GEORGIA (September 20, 2023) — Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia and Wesleyan College are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at enhancing collaboration and cooperation between the two institutions.

The MOU, signed on August 8, 2023 and announced to the public on September 20, 2023, establishes a framework for Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia and Wesleyan College to work together in a mutually beneficial manner. Having recognized and appreciated each other’s educational philosophies and commitment to the liberal arts, the two organizations pledge to deepen mutual learning and communication and promote cooperation and exchange between and among administrators, faculty, staff and students. The two institutions will work together to raise the effectiveness of college readiness leadership and career development, thus improving their commitment to developing women as leaders.

A key highlight of the Memorandum of Understanding is the common goal of helping young women see their full potential and encouraging them to pursue higher education. Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia will promote the vision and mission of Wesleyan College, identify students who may want to attend the school, and encourage students to apply to Wesleyan. Wesleyan College will provide workshops for students and educators on the college admissions process, scholarships, and financial aid and provide career development and academic training workshops throughout the year. Wesleyan College will also award an additional $5000 scholarship towards tuition, on top of a student’s merit scholarship, to any three-year active member for the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia who is accepted to Wesleyan.

The signing of this MOU marks a significant milestone in the ongoing relationship between Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia and Wesleyan College. Both organizations are excited about the potential for positive change and progress resulting from this collaboration.
