Girl Scouts Goes Fully Digital with Girl Scouts at Home?

Amid the COVID-19 crisis, which is having a major impact on all of us, across backgrounds, geographies, and industries, so many families across the country are hungry for some sense of normalcy, optimism, and purpose. That’s where Girl Scouts comes in. We are committed to ensuring that, even as most public events are on hold, Girl Scouting continues as a 100 percent virtual experience so that girls continue to have access to the learning opportunities, fun, and friendship that Girl Scouts provides.

Through our Girl Scouts at Home? website, we are bringing the exploration and interactive learning of Girl Scouts to both members and the general public. It is a national online platform where girls, families, and troop leaders can access free, self-guided activities for badges, traditions, and council patch programs from GSUSA’s expert programming. Girls everywhere can remain engaged, active, and connected to their community and a larger sisterhood of girls during this time of widespread social isolation. Among the programming they can explore are activities related to entrepreneurship; life skills; the outdoors; and STEM subjects like cybersecurity, space science, coding, and computer programming, as well as arts exercises like drawing, painting, screenwriting, and comics creation. All of these are presented via guided videos, text-based instructions, virtual events and troop meetings, and collaborative service projects. We will be adding new programming, activities, and crucial information weekly.

In our 108-year history Girl Scouts has endured many challenging times, and we have always led the charge to reach out and bring people together. I invite everyone to take advantage of this new opportunity for digital learning the Girl Scout way!
