At one station, a group of young children gathered around him. They were selling baskets with simple designs and patterns. Among those refugee children, there was a nine years old girl who was selling her hand made baskets. This poor and self respecting girl pressed the author hard to buy her basket. she had tears in her eyes. Since the author did not require it, he gave some coins to her in charity. This hurt her sense of pride. She returned those coins to him with all the pride. Now the author had to buy her basket. The author was deeply impressed by the dignity of the poor small girl whose one act self respect and pride gave him a glimpse of the warm soul of India.
