GIRD UP YOUR LOINS: Don't Get Weary In Well Doing.

GIRD UP YOUR LOINS: Don't Get Weary In Well Doing.

Gird up your loins—it’s an old phrase with deep biblical and historical roots. Back in the day, people wore long robes, but when it was time to move, whether, for battle, work, or a long journey, they had to gather up that extra fabric, tuck it into their belt, and free themselves to move forward without hindrance.

Today, the phrase is a call to prepare yourself, brace for the challenge ahead, and step into the necessary resilience required for your season.

And let’s be real—this season, this space between where we were and where we’re going, demands something of us.

I won’t lie. I’m tired of claiming how much courage and fortitude I have. But now, resilience isn’t just a trait—it’s the requirement of the moment. I’ve chosen to live moment to moment, which sounds poetic until you realize the battle it takes to keep your mind from spiraling into a future that hasn’t yet arrived. That battle? It wears on you.

So, what does it mean to gird up your loins in this season? Three things:

Secure Your Mind. When uncertainty is loud, clarity must be louder. Don’t let fear dictate your next move. Your mind is the first battleground—win there first.

Adjust and Move. Just like they had to gather their robes before battle, we must strip away the excess—the doubts, the distractions, the weight of “what if.” Movement requires adjustment.

Hold Onto Hope. The other side of transition is coming. We are all in some kind of “in-between,” and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. But our testimony will be that, even in the long and arduous journey, we lived in the glimpses of the hope we carried.

When exhaustion rides your back, when breaking feels like the only recourse, hear me—I’m saying this to myself first: Don’t break. GIRD UP YOUR LOINS.

I woke up with this phrase heavy on my spirit. Maybe it was just for me, or maybe it’s for you too. Because sometimes, I’m scared to say that I’m built for these times. But here’s the truth, if we’re in it, we’re built for it.

Love this! Especially this: "When uncertainty is loud, clarity must be louder." Thank you for your sharing. Yes, it's true, you (and all of us) were built for this.
