Giraffe Gaffe
Shout out to who taught me the way of the Giraffe, Idaira Gonzalez. Truly, the expert.
So you’re mid workshop and focus of your participants (you too) is fadinnng. FAST! Here’s where a giraffe might come to save your day: Yes, a giraffe. Let’s get people moving, kind of confused, but overwhelmingly ENGAGED.
Dont like reading... watch it live! HERE at 14:09
Here's the breakdown...
Who’s it for: 1-1000+ participants, children to CEOs
When to use it: During dips in motivation during meetings/workshops or immediately before brainstorming.
How to do it:
1. Make sure each participant has a single sheet of blank A-4 (or any size) paper.
2. Ask all participants to stand up. (What, why??)
3. Show a slide of an origami giraffe
4. Ask participants who thinks they can make it?
5. Tell them there is only 1 minute to create the giraffe.
6. “Oh, and I almost forgot… you have to do it with the paper behind you back”.
To review:
Participants have 1 minute to fold, tear, rip, crunch a single sheet of A-4 paper into an Origami Giraffe.
All of this, behind their backs and unable to see what they are creating. Um… impossible? Sort of (people get close-ish!).
Why do it: Because this exercise is so ridiculous, so unexpected, that your group won’t be able to contain their excitement, laughter, and curiosity.
This turns a room of distracted, annoyed participants, into a room of eager energetic creatives!
Conclusion: Watch this video, or send me questions directly! Below is a random picture of me. Enjoy!
