Gino and Why People Don’t Report Harassment Immediately

Over the past week, I’ve seen many people on social media asking, "Why didn’t these individuals come forward at the time?" Some even dismiss the complaints as people just "jumping on the bandwagon."

For those who may not understand, here are key reasons why victims often don’t report harassment right away:

  • They aren’t sure what they’ve experienced qualifies as harassment (hence the need for preventative training).
  • They fear they won’t be believed.
  • They don’t know how to report it.
  • They fear retaliation.
  • They worry about losing their jobs.

The Worker Protection Act 2023: A Turning Point in Workplace Safety

This legislation marks a new era of employer accountability. Addressing harassment only after it occurs is no longer enough. Prevention, swift action, and real consequences are now the standard.

The law is clear, action is needed now.

Investing in preventative training can shift perspectives and create safer workplaces for everyone, after all its the law.
