Gin & Tonic Marmalade - 'Buy Local' just got interesting...!

The 'Buy local from N.Irish producers for Christmas' campaign just got interesting!! Gin for breakfast? And only because you're 'doing your bit'?!? Brilliant! So Gin & Tonic Marmalade and Strawberry Daiquiri jam (#madeinFERMANAGH). Chilli Strawberry & Prosecco chutney and Vodka & Cranberry preserve (#madeinMOIRA). Gin & Orange gourmet mallows (#madeinWHITEHEAD). N.Irish artisan producers really know how to put their unique twist on tradition to spice up your Christmas.

But it's not just the alcoholic varieties that are raising eye-brows and helping people naturally to 'buy local' out of choice (because the products are great and will add value to the Christmas table) as opposed to a sense of 'because I should' ...

Smoked salt, pepper & dulce (#madeinBALLYCASTLE) will enhance the flavour of your (local we hope) turkey and trimmings, Lime & Chilli chutney (#madeinFERMANAGH) will make your cheese go all giggly and once you have a taste of Alice's AGA-made salted caramel sauce (#madeinBALLINDERRY) you'll develop deep emotional feelings for Tyrone that you never knew existed!

Too often the 'buy local' choice is like sitting through your child's first recorder concert. It's something you want to do and it feels right after the event, but you know... let's be honest ... the experience doesn't always match the expectation! (Note how the uncles and aunties never seem to turn up to these ones - I rest my case). But the Northern Irish artisan producers have really upped their game, making tasty treats and dishes that will be discussion points and become part of your Christmas and hopefully leave you wanting more. So, give it a crack this year. Serve Granny some Gin & Tonic Marmalade and watch her smile. Share the love... :O)
