How did it feel like to work at a top-tech company?

I have always felt like it was never any work day at GO-JEK. It felt like a college, or a playground, or the most fun place on earth. Everyday.

Why?

Simply because of the company’s culture for me. Its freedom & flexibility, no dress-code, cool workspace, and of course all the young GO-TROOPS in every corner. A dream workspace for everyone, especially for Millennials. And in fact, people there are proudly wearing GO-JEK’s cool tees everyday, waiting in line for Wednesday’s surprise or just chilling and working at the same time at GO-CAFE. And of course, all those perks, benefits and facilities come with a big responsibility followed with great performance in return. It is super challenging yet so much fun to experience; pushing the boundaries of your limit. Everyday.

Sounds growth, right?

Empathy and Social Impact

That's what drives all the people there. Think about the people first. Customers, drivers, partners, colleagues. All taking care of each other. From the people who work closely to drivers out there, to the people who make sure this big machine keeps running. Everyone has that level of empathy and that's what makes this fastest-growing startup is special than any other in Indonesia.

I came to GO-JEK between the time after a few months they moved into a new Headquarters and the international expansion plan. I am glad to experience this in my career. Because GO-JEK is a dream job for me, exactly a year before I wrote this article, then a few months later after the four-times shot since in college for internship, finally I got the job. One of the best feelings in life. One dream came true.

Surely I had to adapt with some things in the company, one was the pace—it was really fast and dynamic—and I had to handle multiple projects at the same time. At least my internship in a startup, freelance projects and working at my own startup before helped me a little bit. But, that's true, it’s really (super) fast-paced and a constant-changed environment.

Months at GO-JEK, I without a doubt, learned tons than I expected.

From took ownership, solved problems with different kind of teams from social/product/marketing/operations/corporate communications/creative labs, came up with crazy ideas and made it happened whatever it took. Re-write the rules, collaborated with A+ local and global talents, being obsessed to be better and progressive, customer-centric and gathered insights from different point of views, sharpened empathy to drivers/partners/colleagues, did many experiments and failed and learnt as early as possible, to many many things that I can’t express all of it here but I can feel in my personal growth.

People there always said a six-months in this company feels like a year. Twice than your time. And I felt that. From the pace, pressure, projects, and all the learnings I have got there.

It has been a wonderful-exciting journey for me at GO-JEK. Despite my time has come to the end, I will always cherish every second that I have spent there, like how I nailed it since day one. Proudly saying, I had amazing times and experience as GO-TROOPS, also made lovely friends & family there. Learned from great mentors. Inspired by great leaders and saw how leaders are made in this company. And I would never stop to recommend people to work and experience it there.

GO-JEK is benchmarking my career. It shapes me and set the high-standard of work ethic, process, and result. Not only thrives the technology industry in Indonesia, but also the talents behind it.

Now it's a world class tech-company, just about the time to become a giant in the world. And one thing that amazed me is they give the opportunity to anyone out there whatever you came from, your background. As long as you want to grow, make an impact and help people.
