Gilchrist Taste

Having had the benefit of Gilchrist Hospice taking care of me after I lost my Darling Jim, it gives me great pleasure to be on the planning committee and to be a sponsor of their Taste Event. I personally support Gilchrist, as does Offit Kurman to whom I give thanks. This event raises money for the Howard County location of Gilchrist. Gilchrist strives to make the final times as full and good as they can be. Gilchrist not only takes care of the patient but also the loving family and friends who surround him.

This year’s event was chaired by the ever generous and kind Pete Mangione at Turf Valley. We are so fortunate to have Pete in our community and to have the benefit of his thoughtful caring ways.

The theme this year was Masquerade, and the outfits did not disappoint. From a stilt walker, to painted faces, and gorgeous masks, everyone got into the theme.

Many thanks to the restaurants who donated their food and their time to this most wonderful cause. The winners of this year’s contest, for decorating consistent with our theme, are:  The Turn House, Touchet Touchet Bakery & Cafe, and the Capital Grille.

Silent and live auctions presented the opportunities for good-natured competition for the trips, dinners, and sports memorabilia. The auction committee, led by Shelly Romano, did its usual superb job of gathering a great variety of items donated to the cause.

A most worthy cause, and a delicious fun event. Look for the date for next year’s Taste. You won’t want to miss it!
