Gilbert
Sleep in peace dear friend
Dust to earth as your spirit quits
To await the day of the Books,
Ay, I’ll see you again
Albeit no idea about when
But I assure ‘twill be like yesterday.
You’ve made your strides during your time
Struggles to make an honest gain
Sacrifice from a peasant home
The dreams, visions and ambitions
We both shared,
Laughed about as we failed
But vowed never to give up,
Here I am, standing in the land of mortals
Lots of offers, for an honest pay
The future looks bright and promising
But now my mind thinks
For how long?
Just as news of your sleep came so sudden
So too will we be overtaken in our activities
No knowledge of the hour
A quizzical puzzle
To which science and scholars find no answer.
