The gifts you have been given...
Rediscovering, the art lover in me. I remember going through my father’s filing Cabinet in the office and finding a collage of a duck and a swan that I made with egg shells and cotton wool. I guess it was one of my earliest pieces from primary school.
I have always had an affinity for all things arts. My first performance was at Ecwa nursery school Kano. At the age of 4, I was privileged to sing our welcome song to all parents and my classmates. I stood on the stage, felt at home, because on the stage I could share my excitement and conviction with people hoping to inspire them to new things.
As I grew older, I wrote novels, painted landscape pictures and dreamt of a world where I could express myself artistically – dancing, singing, writing, simply creating arts. I went on to study arts for 2 years, worked as a graphic artist for 4 years. On the path of self-discovery I focused on other gifts that I had been given which led me to putting down my pencils and paint brushes for the years to come.
I still found ways of singing by becoming the consul for the karaoke group for internations Munich community. Every now and again I would make custom cards and photobooks for friends. I have found that using the gifts that I have been given and sharing this experience with other people completes me. It affords me the opportunity of recharging and becoming a better me.
Which is why I was so grateful to find the adult coloring books and pencils in our new LinkedIn Munich office. It reopened again a world for me that I had almost forgotten. So here I am 8 years later reliving the joy I feel when I cover a plain piece of paper with color, creating something that I and hopefully others too can admire.
Your gifts, your passions may not necessarily put bread on your table but definitely leveraging it will provide you a source of inner strength to do that which you have chosen to do. And if you can share the experience then be encourage to do so, I can tell you first hand my nieces and nephews loved it :-).
Thank you LinkedIn , Danke LinkedIn. #LinkedInLife #Wellness #LinkedInMunich
