Gift of water tanks to a rural community Primary School likened to a miracle having happened.

The gift of water tanks to a primary school would not get coverage in the press of overseas countries and, if such a report was indeed circulated, it would hardly raise eyebrows or solicit views.

In the Solomon Islands, however, the gift of five water tanks to the primary school at Barana Village in North –East Guadalcanal takes on a completely different meaning since the primary school children at that rural school previously had to walk for a kilometre into the forest in the valley to collect drinking water.

Stories such as the Barana School one need to be reported so the outside world can appreciate the hardships people and children still have to endure at home and why so much development support is needed from trusted development and aid partners to this day and beyond.

Perhaps, when the Solomon Islands can access broadband and improved internet access, stories like the Barana one could be circulated externally.

I thank the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for donating the five water tanks that will make so much difference to the primary school children and staff at the Barana Primary School.

Yours sincerely
