The gift that keeps on giving - part 2
It’s that time of year – office parties, friends getting together, and what better way to get into the spirit of the season, than to hold a kits for a cause party?
We have organized several of these parties over the years at Company of Women, and everyone not only enjoys them, but really gets into the intent of the event.
How does it work???First it is good to determine what cause or charity you want to support.?In the past we’ve provided survival kits for the homeless in Toronto, hygiene kits for women in shelters in Halton and school bag kits for young women at Girls Inc.
Probably the next step is to determine your budget.?How much do you want to spend??Will the participants each chip in to pay for the kits they pack???To give you an idea of costs – they start at $6 for a personal hygiene kit and The Bargains Group can tailor the costs to suit your budget.
It is best to have more kits than people, that way your participants get to pack several kits and the activity isn’t over before it started.

Once all those decisions are made,?Kits for a Cause, pulls together the contents for the kits.???They arrive all labelled and in separate bundles, and ready for your group to pack.?Perhaps you can arrange for someone from the agency to come and speak, so everyone gets to learn more about the charity or cause you are supporting.
In terms of getting the kits to the organization, you can deliver them yourselves or Kits for a Cause can facilitate this too.
This activity works well with children and teens, and helps them learn more about those less fortunate.?It could be done at school, or at home as part of a birthday celebration, for example.
At the end, everyone is left with a warm feeling that they’ve given back and made a difference this holiday season, and isn’t that what it’s all about.

3 年Thanks Anne Day for always sharing such an important and impactful activity. I know that you and your community love getting together, doing good and making local impact for so many charities over the years. Remarkably, a positive effect of Covid is that so many families are now doing this as a way to bring kids to the table and teach them empathy and gratitude while doing good too. Sadly so many charities are not able to offer Volunteer opportunities but @Kits For a Cause can be done in your own home or office. Highly recommend and we do most of the work!!! Please share everyone as our communities so need all of our help!!!
