I don’t know about you but I cannot believe that the holidays are already here! Crazy isn’t it? After a year of massive turmoil, change and unrest, we are finally well into the season of celebrations. This year will be different for sure but we are all capable (as has been proven) to adapt and do whatever works for our family and friendships.
With that said I wanted to talk about one of my favorite organizing strategies. The GIFT CLOSET! I have been using a designated gift closet for years and will probably always have one somewhere in my home. This is also one fo my favorite organizing projects when I work with clients. I think every person should have a gift closet!
This can be as simple as a plastic crate that contains a few hostess gifts with gift bags and wrapping paper or a grand as an entire hall closet designed to organize gifts and all of the related accouterments!
If you have small children, a gift closet will keep your sanity. You can read about that more in this article.
If you love to shop (as I do!) a gift closet is a great way to scout for special gifts throughout the year and keep them stowed and easy to find and wrap when the holidays arrive.
If you don't yet have a designated gift area, this can be the year you start this new tradition. Believe me, once you have a designated area for gifts, you will never go back to the old way of searching for the gift you bought last summer for Uncle Al when the holidays arrive!

Since I buy gifts throughout the year, I use Evernote to keep track of the gifts I buy for each person so that when the holidays roll around, I know what I still need to purchase and what I already have ready to wrap.
Do you use any type of system to keep your holidays more organized? If so, leave a comment. I would love to know what tactics you use to keep your holiday prep on track.
