The giant Google brings AI chat to Europe: meeting BARD
Not long ago, we told you that Bard had landed in 180 countries around the world, excluding European ones. The last AI news is the long-awaited arrival of Bard in Europe.
The three-month delay was due to the concern sparked among European authorities by ChatGPT's meteoric and somewhat uncontrolled race. This was especially related to user data protection. It seems that Google has made adjustments to adapt Bard to the AI regulations being negotiated by the EU.
Having overcome these obstacles, Bard is now here and available in all 27 EU countries.
However, we must remember that this is not Google's first step in artificial intelligence. In fact, Google is one of the companies that invest the most in this field. Bard is Google's response to ChatGPT. OpenAI has had such overwhelming success that it has pushed major tech companies to launch their own intelligent chatbots. Microsoft did it with Bing AI, and no one wants to be left behind.
Bard has its own URL and user interface, it's free, and it's presented as a complement to Google's search engine.
Like other AI chatbots, Bard is based on large language models (LLM). This type of technology can learn and generate responses by analyzing vast databases. It's not a replacement for Google Search, but it does connect to Google's web index. This way, its responses can include recent information. Remember that ChatGPT knows nothing about what has happened in the world after 2021.

According to Jack Krawczyk, Google's Director of Product Management, Bard is a tool that offers help in various situations. He gives an example, saying, "Many times, I wake up in the morning with too many ideas in my head. What I do is talk out loud for a few minutes and then ask Bard to organize my thoughts and summarize them in three key points."
And as a novelty, Bard can respond out loud, something our old friend ChatGPT cannot do. This is particularly useful when translating, as we can also learn how words are pronounced.
Another significant difference from ChatGPT or Bing AI is that Bard can export and share files from other company products, such as a Gmail email or a Google Docs document. Furthermore, Bard includes a button to share responses with others through links.
It also offers another interesting new function: pinning, organizing, and modifying conversations. When starting a conversation, options to pin, rename, and resume recent conversations will appear in the sidebar.
Moreover, Google has integrated Google Lens into Bard. This allows us to import images to the chatbot and obtain information about them. It can identify elements, describe what appears in the images, and even generate text based on those images.
Let's welcome Bard and continue adding assistants that make our lives much easier.
