On the night of October 31, 1967, on a lonely street in Colonia Estrella, my life took an unexpected turn. At just nine years old, I found myself face to face with a being from beyond the grave, a terrifying figure that challenged my perception of reality.
That experience, as vivid as it was real, sparked in me a deep fascination for the unknown. Since then, I have dedicated myself to investigating the world of ghosts and apparitions, searching for answers to the questions that were engraved in my memory that night.
In this blog, I invite you to join me on this journey through the paranormal. I will share with you my story, my research and my reflections on the mysteries that hide in the darkness. Come with me into the world of the inexplicable, where reality blurs and shadows come to life.
If you have ever wondered if there is something beyond what we see, if you have felt the presence of the invisible or if you are simply passionate about the world of the paranormal, this is your place.
There are things that never exist, but are always there, and things that are always there, but never exist.
The Ghostly Encounter on a Lonely Street
I was nine years old and a Cub Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. Boys under 12 were called "Cub Scouts," older boys up to 18 were called "Boy Scouts," and those over that age were called "Robert Scouts," and at the top was our guide, the "Master Scout."
On the night of October 31, after the weekly meeting at the "Master's" house in Colonia Estrella, my brother Roberto and I set out on the way home. Halfway there, a childish argument separated us. I decided to take a solitary route, barely lit by the street lamps of the sixties.
My inner voice, the one some call my conscience or guardian angel, warned me: "Juan Carlos, this street is very lonely, be careful." "Don't worry," I said to myself, "I'm almost at the main avenue."
At that moment, a dark blue car to my right caught my attention. Someone was driving. An inexplicable curiosity drew me towards the vehicle.
I approached, but what a mistake! When I saw the driver's face, terror filled me. He was a being from beyond the grave, with a crescent-shaped skull, a head and chin that ended in a point. Slowly, he turned his face towards me, looked deeply into my eyes and smiled, showing a chilling set of teeth: long, thin, and sharp as daggers.
Paralyzed, I felt the blood drain from my head. I couldn't move. Only when the blood reached my feet was I able to run.
I came home terrified, but no one believed me. "It was someone in disguise," they said. But, dear reader, years later, I can assure you that it was not a disguise. It was as real as the keyboard I now have in front of me.
What happened? I don't know. But since my teenage years, I've been researching ghosts and apparitions. And here I share some of what I learned.
THE THEORY OF ELEMENTALS
The Theory of Elementals has its roots in alchemy and ancient philosophy, with figures such as Paracelsus (16th century) describing elementals as spiritual beings that embody the elements of nature: earth, water, fire and air.
Types of Elementals
Ghosts are generally understood to be spirits or souls of deceased people who, for some reason, have not passed to the "other side" and remain in the earthly world.
Ghosts are said to manifest themselves in various ways: visual apparitions, unexplained sounds, movement of objects (poltergeist), changes in temperature, etc.
They usually appear in places with a strong emotional charge, such as old houses, cemeteries, places where tragedies occurred, etc.
Various explanations have been proposed for the perception of ghosts, including:
Connection between Elementals and Ghosts
Some believe that ghosts could be a type of elemental, specifically those associated with the element earth, as they are associated with specific places.
Another connection is that both concepts reflect the human belief in the existence of a spiritual or supernatural reality that coexists with the material world.
Both the Elemental Theory and belief in ghosts are part of the folklore and mythology of various cultures. Although there is no scientific evidence to support them, they continue to be topics that fascinate and intrigue many people. It is important to remember that science is based on evidence and the scientific method, and that extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.
KARDEC, GHOSTS AND THE BOOK OF SPIRITS
Allan Kardec (1804-1869) was a French educator, writer and translator who became a key figure in the development of Spiritism. His real name was Hippolyte Léon Denizard Rivail, and he adopted the pseudonym Allan Kardec in 1857 with the publication of The Spirits' Book.
Kardec became interested in the phenomena of "turning tables" (a type of spiritualist session popular at the time) and began to investigate them systematically. Through communication with spirits (according to him, through mediums), he developed a doctrine that sought to explain the nature of spirits, their relationship with the material world and the purpose of human life.
In "The Spirits' Book," Kardec presents a series of questions and answers on various topics, including the existence of God, the immortality of the soul, reincarnation and, of course, the nature of spirits.
What did Kardec think about ghosts in "The Spirits' Book"?
In Kardec's work, ghosts are considered spirits of deceased people who, for various reasons, remain on the earthly plane instead of continuing their spiritual evolution in the "beyond."
Some of Kardec's ideas about ghosts are the following:
For Kardec, ghosts are a reality, but they are not supernatural or malignant beings. They are simply human spirits in a state of transition, seeking to progress and evolve.
"The Spirits' Book" is a fundamental work for understanding the Spiritist vision of life after death and the relationship between the spiritual world and the material world.
MODERN SCIENCE AND GHOSTS
Modern science, with its focus on empirical evidence and the scientific method, is skeptical of the existence of ghosts and spirits. Despite numerous studies and research, no conclusive evidence has been found to support their existence.
Scientific perspectives on this topic:
1. Absence of evidence:
2. Inconsistencies with the laws of nature:
3. Scientific research:
4. The role of culture and psychology:
Modern science has found no solid evidence to support the existence of ghosts or spirits. Many of the phenomena attributed to them have alternative explanations within the framework of science.
However, research continues, and it is important to keep an open mind to new possibilities, as long as they are based on evidence and the scientific method.
SO WHAT DID I SEE THAT NIGHT OF OCTOBER 31, 1966?
It is difficult to say for certain what it was that I saw that night. My experience, while undoubtedly shocking, may have several possible explanations, but even after years of research into the subject, I still wonder what happened.
Let's consider some of the possibilities:
1. A hallucination:
2. A mental projection:
3. A ghost
4. A person in disguise:
5. A distorted memory:
It is important to remember that the human mind is complex and we do not yet fully understand how it works. My experience could be a combination of several factors, or perhaps something that science cannot yet explain.
The important thing is that this experience left a deep mark on me and motivated me to investigate the world of the paranormal. I will continue exploring, and perhaps one day I will find the answers I am looking for.
