Ghostbusters 4 Already Has A Big Problem To Overcome
If a fourth Ghostbusters movie is to happen, it will have to overcome a big problem regarding its villains and the purpose of the team.
Ghostbusters 4?wouldn’t have almost any ghosts to justify its storyline, and the writers would have to come up with a believable (in the context of the?Ghostbusters?universe, that is) trigger for a new ghost problem that Phoebe and company can take care of.?
https://screenrant.com/ghostbusters-4-problem-afterlife-no-ghosts-mistake/
Not a problem - or mistake - for me!
In my Ghostbusters movie, ghosts *do* still exist, but people, especially New Yorkers, are so overwhelmed by reality, such as the continuing COVID-19 crisis, to notice or care about them.
So one of my heroes, Kate Leone, in clever frustration, "inhabits" and animates the famous bronze bull statue at the foot of Wall Street, to, in a way, call on the Ghostbusters for help.
IF you are sure that all ghosts are bad, then don't see my movie, since Kate *is* a ghost.
The song says "Who [are] you 'gonna call?" - so why can't a ghost *also* ask the Ghostbusters for help?
Also, the planet Earth, as a living "being", in her own way, *also* cries out for help from the Ghostbusters.
If you are sure that unrestricted and subsidized capitalism is ‘god’, then again, don't see my film, since ‘living’ super rich people plundering the planet for profit is also one big reason why "ghosts" call for help from the Ghostbusters...
But: (1) The Earth is not a "person", and (2) She’s not dead yet...
That’s fine for me! (1) The Earth would need a proxy - a real person or a few people - to advocate on the Earth's behalf, and (2) IF the Earth dies, so do all of us live people, right?
Speaking of problems to 'overcome' in a future Ghostbusters 4 film, note that, in the part 3 movie, Muncher was a new ghost… and Egon Spengler *is* a ghost, so the 2021 film isn’t?100% ghost free.
And ghost Egon is a good guy, further emphasizing my plot line about ghost’s values & motives.
Still, the overall plot is (and will be) that, in general, ghosts seem to be "missing" from our world.
Where could they be?
Answers in my movie: besides, like Kate, "hiding" in plain sight; some are locked up - in New Jersey!
?Are you getting my movie’s message now?
The Ghost-busters will have to bust a ghost OUT of jail!

Ghostbusters: Afterlife Review: The Anticipated Sequel Captures The Spirit Of The Original - But Really Belongs To McKenna Grace
https://www.cinemablend.com/movies/ghostbusters-afterlife-review-the-anticipated-sequel-captures-the-spirit-of-the-original-but-really-belongs-to-mckenna-grace
When Ghostbusters: Afterlife uses the original actors, it stumbles instead of soars.
One of the worst kept secrets about?Ghostbusters: Afterlife?is that surviving cast members Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, and Sigourney Weaver all return, and are playing their original roles. That, alone, makes?Afterlife?far more successful than Feig’s miscalculation, where he shoehorned the classic cast into uncomfortable and unfamiliar roles that were distracting, not endearing. But there’s no denying that when Reitman does employ the original cast members, it doesn’t land with the triumphant, celebratory note I was personally hoping to see. You won’t hear from me how Ray Stantz, Peter Venkman and Winston Zeddemore factor into the plot because of spoilers; all I’ll say on the matter is that their contributions to the overall story aren’t as emotional or significant as I hoped.
Additionally,?Ghostbusters: Afterlife?feels like it is painted into a corner by the reality of Harold Ramis’ death. As Egon Spengler and as a screenwriter, Ramis was a key contributor and powerful voice in the Ghostbusters franchise, and?Afterlife?has a chosen solution for how it honors his legacy. This will be a major talking point after the film has screened, and may be the dividing line between “loved it” or “hated it” for fans. I didn’t love it, but I definitely need to see it play out one more time to determine if I actually hated it, or if that’s too stern of a dismissal.
I use the existing cast - playing the original characters, but i imagine what they are doing 37 years after the first film.
Example: In my movie, if you have a problem, and don't know what to do, you *still* call Janine Melnitz, but she's now the day shift supervisor for responding to all of New York City problems - in their official Government emergency response command center - not just for the Ghostbusters alone.
Example: In my movie, Dr. Ray Stanz has become a US Federal Judge. He wanted to affect more positive change than when he was a Ghostbuster long ago.
i also attempt to honor and utilize the fact that Mr. Harold Ramis AKA Egon Spengler is no longer with us. How can the real movie ignore the fact that Egon was a Ghostbuster? Everyone, especially his daughter and grandkids, would know about him by heart.

Ghostbusters; Afterlife (2021); there's a particle beam weapon on the vehicle's roof, but they expose the occupant to open air to fire a handheld gun - see photo above.
Cut a hole in the front of the roof if needed, but never expose your crew to hostile attack!
Ghostbusters: Afterlife Theory - Egon's Ghost Is In The Trailer

Great!
i also have ghost Egon as a hero in my movie.
He gives advice to his daughter, Violet, and helps to organize the army fighting against the bad guys. This conflicts him, since his advice is to choose love and understanding, not amplify hate and fear.
“We have two choices in life, Violet. We can choose fear, or we can choose love. Everything comes down to that.” - actual advice from Harold to his daughter Violet
More: My 'back-story' has him dying as an after effect to him helping to find survivors of the real world NYC 9.11.2001 attacks. Egon modified his "P.K.E." ghost detector to scan for 'almost' dead people. His improvised mask kept causing his glasses to fog up - glasses were needed to see minute changes in the pke-meter that would signal a survivor was nearby. The mask also clogged quickly. Bottom line: Egon inhaled toxic dust which, 13 years after 9/11, caused him to die.
https://ghostbusters.fandom.com/wiki/P.K.E._Meter
The?P.K.E. Meter?(also known as?Aurascope) was one of the Ghostbusters' tools invented by?Dr. Egon Spengler?that enabled them to track ghosts and other entities.
My plot mirrors that of actor Harold Ramis, who died of an auto-immune disease in 2014.
https://www.bbc.com/news/26327020
Harold Ramis died in 2014 of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, a rare disease that involves swelling of the blood vessels, his agent told the BBC.
More of My Comments:
'Ghostbusters: Afterlife' director Jason Reitman used his 'complicated' relationship with his father to take on the franchise he's avoided his whole life
This post helps me, since I wondered how, in my movie, Egon's daughter, Violet, relates to ghost Egon.

Again, in my screenplay, Egon died as a result of long term auto-immune damage he suffered: He helped rescue workers in finding survivors - then victims - of WTC 1 & 2 collapse after 9.11.2001. Despite precautions, Egon inhaled toxic dust, eventually causing damage to his body. My back story sort of matches what happened to Harold Ramis:
My plot disagrees with the "official" 'canon' story where literally nothing bad happened in New York City after the events of the 1984 original movie. Yes, even the 1989 sequel is officially ignored = despite what Sony says in new posts.
Also, as of 2020, a Ghostbusters: Afterlife Sequel Is NOT in the Works
A recent interview suggesting Jason Reitman is already working on a Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel for Sony may have been taken out of context.
I bet that Sony would want to make money on a (part 4) new sequel = if it was a good story.
Question: Which movie would you want to see???
Their actual film:
"I had this vision of a [about 14 year old] girl shooting a proton pack in a cornfield and suddenly popcorn flying up and her catching and eating it..." - Jason Reitman

My Idea:
I had this vision of a 14 year old girl, who is herself a ghost, telling Wall Street businesses to choose people over profits, especially for the people who work in those Corporations traded on Wall Street.

Q: I must ask about Britney Spears. As her screen father in 2002's?"Crossroads,"?were you thrilled to see her freed from her restrictive conservatorship after 13 years?
Aykroyd: Absolutely. She works hard for her money,?she's matured and she's going to be fine. But if she wants some help and advice, I'll supply it gratis. Tell her to call me, I'll double her fortunes in five?years.?I'd put her in Amazon, Tesla and?Netflix stocks and just walk away, watch the money grow.

Great! *i* have proposed Britney Spears as the new Ghostbusters secretary in my part 4 sequel - i could have Dan again interact with Britney:

Kevin: "Good... I was given a set of strange interview questions to ask you...
[looking at the typed interview questions]
Do you believe in UFOs, astral projections, mental telepathy, ESP, clairvoyance, spirit photography, telekinetic movement, full trance mediums, the Loch Ness monster - and the theory of Atlantis?"
Wendy Solomon: "Ah, if there's a steady paycheck in it,?I'll believe anything you say...
except?that:
[if Jessica Simpson]?Chicken of the Sea?can't?be tuna fish!"
[if Britney Spears]?I?can't?believe that my Father knows more about managing?my?finances than?I?do!"

Jason Reitman takes on the mantle of his Ghostbusting father Ivan with this emotionally manipulative nostalgia trip.

The bland script and unrelenting nostalgia are headache-inducing...
Beyond a fairly uninspired script about a generic-looking demon who wants to destroy the world for some reason, there’s a distinct lack of chemistry between the cast members, who never quite feel believable as a family unit.
Their stock tropes (the rebellious teenager, the nerdy daughter) are gratingly familiar, while the usually delightful Carrie Coon is underused as their scatter-brained mother. A romance between her and Phoebe’s science teacher might be charming if it wasn’t swiftly undercut by the bizarre decision to make them have sex while possessed by ghosts as part of a barely-explained ancient ritual.
