Ghostbusters 5 (2025); scene Ben's Pot Farm; overview & story

*preliminary*

Actor Jim Belushi is too busy with his "Pot Farm", and, along with his residual checks from?his TV shows & movies, would not be motivated to come out of "retirement" to co star in a new Ghostbusters movie -

Is now a scene in my Ghostbusters 5 story.

I cannot make it work as a cold open, but it does work as what I'm now calling a "cold intermission".

That is, after something *really* bad happens back in New York City, the next scene [seemingly nonsensical shift] pivots to Dan Ackroyd's character, Dr. Ray Stanz, meeting with a character I have made up for Jim on his *actual* Cannabis Farm in Oregon.

Jim would be playing Benjamin Barrymore = basically, he would be himself.

Ben is an old friend of Dan's character. Ben's brother John was supposed to be a Ghostbuster, but John sadly died of an accidental drug overdose before he could join the 'buster team.

*somehow*, Dan's character = Dr. Raymond Stantz, PhD., talks Ben into helping on a covert "black" magic project to attempt to change history.

Ben points out to Ray that - for the fiction of the film franchise - people *cannot* actually go back in time = and you cannot bring people back from the dead.

Ray explains that he got ahold of new technology = a Floquet Time Crystal = which *can* send *information* [but *not* people] back in time.

The plan is to use a Floquet Time Crystal to send *information* back in time to alert EMT / Hospital to rescue Ben's brother after his drug overdose - back in 1980.

LONG story short, eventually, Dan also locates the Sword of Damocles...

More powerful than a similar sword - Excalibur, this magic metal can cause damage to *anything* = even extra dimensional or god-like beings.

Long story short, when extra dimensional, god-like beings block the Time Crystal project, Ray and Ben find out that this intense evil actually caused Ben's brother John to die. John had a drug problem, but the being "pushed" him over the edge.

At the end of the movie, Jim is furious!

Wielding the Sword of Damocles, he says: "My name is Benjamin Barrymore; you killed my brother; prepare to die!"

Sadly, the other Ghostbusters have to stop Ben, since Ben's statement is not 100% correct.

You see, while:

The Sword of Damocles *will* kill the evil entity, the other Ghostbusters know that, while the battle will be won, the wider war may be lost.

The anger and hate that use of the Sword of Damocles will unleash will cause other evil to eventually overwhelm humanity.

They will have to find a different way - even if it means that the evil being lives,

Ray is?an expert on paranormal history and metallurgy. He is characterized by his almost childlike enthusiasm towards his work, and his forthright acceptance of paranormal activity. As a result, Peter once during the movie referred to him as "the heart of the Ghostbusters"...
