Ghostbusters 6 (2026) overview
Ghostbusters 6; A Nightmare on Wall Street (2026); overview
***preliminary***
Like a lot of people, I’m a big fan of the Ghostbusters movie franchise.
Sequel number 5 WILL be made; release date: Wednesday, December 20, 2023
I hope that yet another film - #6 - will be made. Toward that goal, I’m adapting a fan fiction (part 3) screenplay I already have to incorporate plot and themes from the Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021) story line.
My sequel's story - partial summary: To help deal with the stresses of her family moving to, and living in New York City, Phoebe (McKenna Grace) seems to invent an invisible, imaginary friend, a girl of similar (14) age, named Kate.
No one can see Kate, and, besides Phoebe, only an 'alleged' "mermaid" can even interact with Kate, so Phoebe's Mom, Callie (Carrie Coon) sends Phoebe to a child psychologist, Dana Barrett, hopefully played by the amazing actress Sigourney Weaver...
In my story, Dana found a new career helping troubled teens after the 1989 sequel movie.
Dana was famously possessed in the 1984 original, and her son, Oscar, was almost 'absorbed' in the 1989 sequel, so Callie assumes that, if a new type of supernatural phenomena is to blame now, Dana will be able to help.
But even Dana thinks Kate is fictional… fake news…
As viewers will eventually "put two and two together" in my film - and find out - Kate *is* ‘real’, but there’s a good reason why she’s not visible - or wants to interact with most people:
Kate is a shy and troubled 14 year old... but also, Kate's a ghost
Dana Barrett's office is "portrayed" by: Prince's Bay Lighthouse, 6204 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10309 (see below)
Ghostbusters: Afterlife?has two post-credit scenes.
The first post-credit sequence sees Dana Barrett, played by Sigourney Weaver, administering the same test Peter Venkman gave to his students in the first?Ghostbusters, to Venkman himself. It’s a very cute scene that has zero (?) bearing on the plot and only raises unanswerable (?) questions for the future. Are these two together now? Are they just friends? Where’s Dana’s son, Oscar? We don’t know and the (part 3) movie doesn’t tell us.
The second post-credit scene is arguably more (?) confusing. It begins with a deleted scene from the original?Ghostbusters, now restored and installed here, with Janine giving Egon part of a gift before they battled Gozer. In the present, she still has half of the gift and is playing with it while reminiscing with Winston Zeddemore in his plush office. We learn that he’s become so successful he still pays for Ray’s lease and that all his success never made him feel as good as his time as a Ghostbuster.
Cut to the old Fire House which, it seems, Winston now owns - and the Ecto-1 rolls in from Summerville. He promises to bring it back to full condition and then we see a red light blinking in the ghost containment system downstairs. The implications here are fairly obvious.
Winston might try and bring back the Ghostbusters in New York in some form. And the red blinking light suggests that there could still a ghost or two lingering in the containment center. Or something. We’re not 100% sure.
But the roundabout, broad implication is “More?Ghostbusters?is coming.”

Ghostbusters?star Ernie Hudson has reached out to a super- fan in Suffolk, after learning he had been raising money for charity through personalized videos based on the franchise.
Hudson, who played Winston Zeddemore in the 1984 film, praised the Suffolk?Ghostbusters?group for “making a difference” in a video message to the group, and particularly its founder David Newman.

Comment about my movies:
In my Ghostbusters movie, Kate Leone *will* grow up, but she's dead - and so has to remain a ghost.
Thanks to that initially disbelieving child and adolescent development psychologist, once Kate has resolved her childhood trauma, she will spiritually and intellectually develop like a "normal" teen.
In my movie, Kate wants to be a fashion designer. She does have 'expertise' - working at that NYC sweatshop for 16 hours a day - making clothes designed by other people.
She could remain a friend of the real girl Phoebe, but it would be "tricky" to make ghost Kate into a member of the Ghostbusters, right?
It *is* difficult to overcome her trauma, since Kate died by literally being frightened to death in that Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in 1911 - but, again, thanks to that child and adolescent psychologist, Dana Barrett (hopefully played by Sigourney Weaver) Kate will resume a 'normal' childhood.
Trauma can stay in the body and affect one’s life until they uncover it and process it out.
Comment about messages in my movies:
Here's a good quote on the topic of movie?versus message from Walt Disney; again, the quote I once?saw from Mark Twain was very similar.
One of my?main points continues to be that people who should see movies like "Don't Look Up" will never do so - because the message is so blatantly?obvious - and the film is "slanted" against them.
To affect meaningful change, you must engage viewers who disagree with you; if you only preach to the choir, the message will never get to actually change minds of those who might agree - if you’re heard.
“I would rather entertain and hope that people learned something - than educate people and hope they were entertained.” - Walt Disney
Ghostbusters 4 Already Has A Big Problem To Overcome
If a fourth Ghostbusters movie is to happen, it will have to overcome a big problem regarding its villains and the purpose of the team.
Ghostbusters 4 wouldn’t have almost any ghosts to justify its storyline, and the writers would have to come up with a believable (in the context of the Ghostbusters universe, that is) trigger for a new ghost problem that Phoebe and company can take care of.

Not a problem or mistake for me!
In my Ghostbusters movie, ghosts *do* still exist, but people, especially New Yorkers, are so overwhelmed by reality, such as the continuing COVID-19 crisis, to notice - or care.
So one of my heroes, Kate Leone, in clever frustration, "inhabits" and animates the famous bronze bull statue at the foot of Wall Street, to, in a way, call on the Ghostbusters for help.
IF you are sure that all ghosts are bad, then don't see my movie, since Kate *is* a ghost.
Also, the planet Earth, as a living "being", in her own way, *also* cries out for help from the Ghostbusters.
If you are sure that unrestricted and unrestrained capitalism is god, then again, don't see my film, since living people plundering the planet for profit is also one big reason why "ghosts" call for help from the Ghostbusters.
Note that Egon Spengler *was* a ghost, so the new 2021 movie was not 100% ghost free.
But the overall plot is that, *in general*, ghosts *seem* to be "missing" from our world.
Where could they be?
Answers in my movie: either "hiding" in plain sight – or locked up - in New Jersey!
The Supreme Court?ruled Thursday?that the “state secrets” doctrine prevents a Guantánamo Bay detainee from questioning two former CIA contractors about the abusive treatment he received at what has been widely acknowledged as a “black site” facility in Poland.
The fact that many details about the detention and treatment of Abu Zubaida are publicly known does not mean the government must be forced to disclose them if it makes a credible claim that doing so would harm national security, Justice Stephen G. Breyer wrote for a splintered court.
IMHO, black sites are illegal, so our Government cannot claim that such prisons are legitimate State secrets.
What if this exact issue was part of the plot of a Ghostbusters movie?
i would watch such a film...
A Set Location suggestion for Ghostbusters 6:
I include all five New York City boroughs in my film... I'm 'missing' Staten Inland, so, i put Dr. Dana Barrett's adolescent therapy office here; part of my point is that this location does not 'look' like it is part of New York City; even some NYC residents may not know that yet; this location should be available and low cost to film at as a real location in my movie.
Prince's Bay Lighthouse, 6204 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10309
The Prince’s Bay Lighthouse?is one of New York City’s oldest surviving lighthouse complexes. Historically known as the Red Bank Lighthouse, it is located at Mount Loretto and stands on one of the highest bluffs on the southern shoreline, overlooking Raritan Bay. The original wooden structure was built in 1828 and served New York until the Civil War. In 1864, a brick lighthouse replaced the wooden one and was used until 1922. The keeper’s residence was once used as an occasional retreat house for the late Cardinal John J. O'Connor. The lighthouse?was designated a city landmark in June of 2016.

Prince's Bay Lighthouse (John Cardinal O’Connor Light)
The Prince’s Bay Lighthouse and Complex represents the maritime industry that once thrived on Staten Island. It is one of New York City’s oldest surviving lighthouse complexes and stands on one of the highest bluffs on Staten Island’s southern shoreline overlooking Raritan Bay.
In 1864, the Federal Lighthouse Board, which was charged with upgrading navigational aids along America’s coasts, appropriated $30,000 to build the lighthouse. For more than 100 years it served a critical role in guiding sailing ships along the coast of Staten Island bound for ports in New York and New Jersey.
The Lighthouse was decommissioned in 1922, and was purchased in 1926 by Mount Loretto, the Mission of the Immaculate Virgin. From 1988 until his death in 2000, Cardinal John O’ Connor used the Prince’s Bay Lighthouse Complex as a summer retreat, and the Lighthouse was dedicated in his honor in 2007. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation currently manages the property as a nature preserve.
Prince's Bay Lighthouse and Complex were designated a New York City Landmark in June 2016.
