Ghost (Writers) ’n the Machine

We teach brands how to attract and retain customers through compelling, multichannel storytelling.
Generative AI tools like ChatGPT return some surprisingly good answers in response to people’s prompts. And that’s raising questions for professional content creators. Robert Rose sees some irony in the amount of digital ink humans have given to a bot designed to help us spill more digital ink. Still, he says, you don’t need to worry (yet). Watch his ChatGPT video or read the lightly edited script.??
?? Chatting about: Should you disclose AI-generated and/or (human) ghostwritten content????
Should marketers (or any publishers) disclose when content is AI-generated? That intriguing question came from CMI Slack group host Jeremy Bednarski, who also asked whether the answer is different for content ghostwritten by humans. Is it (as group member Chris Penn says) about as interesting to consumers as the wheat in their sandwich bread? (For some, that’s pretty interesting, actually.) Hannah Szabo’s clever response – a?content nutrition label for a dystopian future – is worth more than the price of admission.?

Numbers alone rarely persuade people of anything. But they’re powerful reinforcements for the compelling stories you tell to win support for your 2023 plans. These findings (gathered by CMI’s research director Lisa Murton Beets) will help you make a data-backed case for the resources you need.?
? Overheard: A different kind of holiday campaign targets airport travelers (courtesy of the Washington Post)??
‘Tis the season to be … reading the Washington Post’s climate change coverage, apparently. People traveling through LAX, Sea-Tac, and San Diego will see 10-second hero videos showing the dangerous side of climate change (think forest fires and floods) and “more uplifting images of forests and sunsets,” writes Katie Hicks in Marketing Brew. Why this message at those airports during this holiday season? There’s an audience for climate change coverage on the West Coast, says the Post executive the article quotes – and much of it will be packed into airports.??
?? Looking forward to: Next Friday’s fun???
How many of your email notifications turned out to be out-of-office messages today? The work year always seems to grind to a near halt before the calendar year ends as everyone uses their last vacation days. Don’t worry, we’ll take it easy on your inbox for the next few weeks. This is the last Friday 5 of the year (though we have something special planned for next week). We’ll be back in action in 2023.??

1 年Love Hannah’s ‘content nutrition’ term ?? Ethically speaking, marketers, SEOs, writers and all content creators should disclose if they use AI writers to create copy/content published online. Perhaps more so if it’s a book for sale, but especially if it’s a knowledge-based product (no matter what content format it is). I strongly believe that consumers and clients have a right to know.?

1 年An interesting topic to discuss, and I found the video https://youtu.be/KSNLCF54Rn8 by https://www.dhirubhai.net/in/robrose very thoughtful. I also can relate to his statement " Our take is that AI will open new doors and extend the capabilities of writers and other content creators, just as it closes doors on others. It will transform the process of written content creation in business. It will change all of us. How it will do that, though, is still up to us." And thanks to Content Marketing Institute for sharing.
