The NSS Unit, Persona Club and Rotaract Clubs of GGNIMT organised a signature campaign at multiple venues to celebrate International Women’s Day . Theme of this year’s Womens’ Day ‘Let’s Break the Bias’ was adopted by?students?and they encouraged members of general public to sign and pledge for creating a gender equal society. Prof. Manjit S, Director, GGNIMT said “As Women have equal rights, we must sensitize the society to break biases related to women.?We decided to bring this issue centre stage by being proactive through this campaign, wherein not only our students?raised their voices loud and clear for women empowerment, but they also motivated others to get rid of their biases.” This campaign received a very warm response with more than 500 people signing the pledge at Ghumar Mandi, Mall Raod and Feroze Gandhi Market.

Dr. Parvinder Singh, Principal, GGNIMT advised the students to take ownership for spreading the message of treating women as equals at their institutions, workplaces and homes, as this would not only lead to greater progress but also wellbeing of society. He also appreciated the efforts of NSS?Unit Faculty Team?Prof. Jagmeet Singh and Prof. Gurleen Kaur, Persona Club Faculty Team Dr. Ramandeep Kaur & Prof. Ramandeep Kaur & Rotaract Club Faculty Team Prof. Priya Arora & Prof. Navneet?Kaur for motivating and mentoring the students.?Harjot Singh a GGNIMTian asserted that this campaign helped him realize the importance of raising ones voice for a just cause. Priya Bharati MBA student was elated at contributing to the cause of breaking the bias. Muskan?a student office bearer of GGNIMT attributed the success of the campaign to guidance by their mentors and also to the enthusiasm and energy of her fellow students. Ravi Dubey one of the signatories appreciated the idea?of a signature campaign, as?it brought?all sections of society across different age groups on a common platform for advocating a just cause.
