" Getting your organization Business Intelligence Ready"

Business Intelligence is quite common acronym used in the corporate world. Definitely world has moved lot towards accumulation and analysis of data. But out of so many enterprises, I really wonder how many of them would be using data for their decision making. And if they are, there is a serious doubt on how they would be accumulating their data.

Business Intelligence is not just predictive analysis only. Like we study to graduate, similarly we evolve step by step towards organizing our "Data Science". It’s not even necessary that as organization adapting to those applications would come naturally. Obviously it use algorithm to represent results, but it is your workforce prepared to be efficiently ready.

So, one should be very clear in deciding the steps which shall help him in getting all useful information on time without spending single minute in organizing the same. It’s simple and easy to understand.

  • Successfully implemented Business Intelligence solution not only ensures ROI on the investment done on application but definitely ensures organization is making right decision on the basis data hence saving business time.
  • The very basis step for getting yourself ready for Business Intelligence is work hard on process which accumulates the transactional data without any duplication.
  • Preparation is critically important for implementation success. Organization planning to implement a Business Intelligence solution should be very clear that what information to which users should benefit the organization.
  • Once done, you need to phase out you plan for getting information ready. Information is categorized into two parts i.e. Internal & External.

o   Internal Analytics:  Internal information can help with analytics on the basis of what is available and should be done via internal transactional systems (ERP/CRM/Payroll etc)

o   External Analytics: External information keeps an org upraise of competitors and prospects.

  • There are many open source applications which have many things to offer, but choosing what is right is equally difficult. The criteria for the selection should be very simple.

  • Which information should be report and which should be dashboard is also important. Whether they are dynamic in nature or not? Whether they can schedule the same to your inbox?  Ease of customization? Ease of user report creation? All the said parameters are critically important to select a product as well.
  • Last, what is the process of data accumulation from your transaction system? It could be ETL or In-Memory Analysis, etc…..but make sure you have a 5 year plan in place.

Thus once you have done the evaluation and selected the product, involvement is key. While the product is getting “Business Ready” for you, users are getting evolved with the implementation. It’s like user requirement keep on improving towards “Minimum information & Maximum results”. This is a common practice called “Drill down Approach”.  We shall speak more on the how you can get yourself “Business Ready”, but I presume with our article planning your strategy towards implementing BI would be more organized & successful.
