I am currently receiving a huge number of enquiries from clients who want fresh content for their business websites.
Many UK businesses are revamping their websites entirely to boost SEO and mobile optimisation; others want new case studies, blogs, or landing page content to provide customers with more information about their products or services.
A Kent business services company contacted me recently to request proof-reading and editing services ahead of their website launch. Reading through the material the business founder had produced, I quickly realised it was very well-written and effectively communicated the ways the business helped their customers.
In this context, you may ask: why bother with a professional writer?
Elevating your business story
There’s several reasons. The writing was already of a high standard, but I was able to elevate it to that next level to really help the business stand out from others offering similar services.
A professional business writer will ensure:
·??????your business story is engaging and flows smoothly
·??????all content is written with your customer’s wants and needs in mind
领英推荐
·??????the most important points are highlighted
·??????writing is clear and concise, and
·??????new clients are warmly encouraged to get in touch.?
Expert editing and proof-reading?
As I proofed the text, I noticed some design points I could advise on. For example, the website pages included a lot of text boxes, but the number of words allocated to each box varied, making the overall design messy. Editing the text in each box to a uniform length meant the content was much easier on the eye. As well, there were a number of ‘orphan’ words – an ‘orphan’ is a word at the end of a paragraph on a line by itself. These also look untidy, so had to go.
I’m not a graphic designer, but after many years working alongside designers at magazines and thinking about how text is presented visually, these are the kinds of little things I notice that make a big difference to a finished website, helping businesses to attract more website traffic and new customers.
