Getting things right...

Getting things right...

Many things are non-negotiable. Quality is one. In diverse spheres, quality takes different forms - from character to proofs of concept, from tangible items to the integrity of structures, etc.. In recent times, there have been news of built structures failing the quality test and collapsing. Some structures which still stand reek of issues that you either have to put up with or walk away from.

The real estate space provides many opportunities for developers, suppliers and service providers to set the right tone for quality when it comes to the good quality of materials, soundness of the engineering backing constructions, due diligence on the fidelity between what is promised and what is delivered to property acquirers, etc.. But the same space serves as a cover for many who cut corners to make fast cash, neglecting the safety of both the lives and investments of those who have believed in their promises and shook hands to seal their fates.

It's easy to cover up anomalies and errors in buildings because many believe that no one will know. How will they know? But no wrong stays hidden forever. And we need to be reminded that trust broken is hardly regained. If you're assuring another of the quality and value you claim to be offering, you owe it to both yourself and the other party to do right and get things right from the start. Source the right materials. Employ the right team and ensure the right guideless and building codes are followed. Hire an architect. Work with an engineer. Stress test your builds and fixtures. Do it as if it was yours...your one and only.

Get it right from the start.

Beyond real estate, life in general demands that we limit our mistakes as much as possible if we hope to increase our probabilities of succeeding in our pursuits and endeavours. Knowing what's right and doing it sets the grounds for assured wins. A poor start often guarantees a spot quite far from the winners' podium and requires you to try harder fixing your mistakes just to make it through if you don't fall by the wayside. Getting things right will cost you exactly what you estimated when you counted your cost. No need attempting "smartness" with things that require "rightness". Time will test the quality professed and time will judge accordingly.

May the works we churn out not fall short when tested. May we not be found with excuses and lost trust when we could have just done right from the start.
