Getting teams hooked on Microsoft Teams

Getting teams hooked on Microsoft Teams

When you’re a company with office and field employees, your digital processes need to keep both of those teams connected—without creating more work.?

ENT Oilfield is an Alberta-based company that specializes in innovative industrial lifting and hauling solutions. With one of the largest picker truck fleets in Western Canada, ENT has several field service teams working across multiple locations at any given time.

The Problem

At ENT, there are multiple processes and communications between field service staff and the central offices. Most of these involve some form of manual data capture and then manual digitization. By using automation, we could make these processes more efficient. But the real kicker—the field service teams refuse to use email.?

So we asked ourselves (and the client), how might we use software to make operations more efficient for office staff, but in a way that field staff would adopt?

The Outcome

  1. Implemented Teams as the central dashboard for field service workers, moving away from email.
  2. Streamlined team communication, information storage, and record-keeping to create an accessible, collaborative, and transparent process.
  3. Changed mindsets around repeatable or frequently used processes, identifying apps within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem that improve efficiency without incurring more costs.
  4. Empowered frontline staff to explore the new process improvements.

The Solution

Working with ENT, we were able to digitize and automate a lot of their processes in a way that fit within their culture and constraints. When we reflect back on this project, the outputs may be streamlined functions, new communication channels, and improved processes—but the true outcome of the project was transforming the culture and mindset of the field and office teams.
