Getting Started With RPA

Getting Started With RPA

What is Robotic Process Automation??

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is a software program that builds and deploys software robots. These "robots" can interface with a computer just like a human can. They can perform actions like:?

  1. Opening and closing application windows?
  2. Extracting and inputting data?
  3. Completing the correct keystrokes?
  4. Understanding what is happening on a computer screen?

But they can do it 70% faster than a human with 100% accuracy and 100% productivity.??

What isn’t RPA??

It’s not actual robots, if that’s what you’re thinking. Though the name suggests it, we aren’t in the business of building you a physical robotic employee, as cool as that may be. It’s just software programmed with computer logic that we’ll install on your computer. For convenience’s sake, however, we’ll sometimes refer to the program as a ‘bot’ or ‘bots.’?

Digital Transformation?

In the business world, it’s normal to hear the words “digital transformation” at least 100 times per day. That concept can be daunting for some businesses, especially in industries that are heavily reliant on technology systems that were built a long time ago (we’re looking at you, banking and healthcare!). Instead of ripping out and replacing old systems with newer programs every few years, Robotic Process Automation is compatible with any existing system or technology. You can digitally transform with RPA and keep your essential business functions running without any interruption in operation.?

Is RPA going to replace people’s jobs??

The short answer is, no, RPA will not replace people’s jobs. RPA intends to make the human workforce more effective and efficient, not replace it. To date, EnterBridge has never automated someone out of a job.??

If you think of human work like a quadrant, it could look something like this:?

  • Low Value, Unfulfilling Work?
  • High Value, Unfulfilling Work?
  • Low Value, Fulfilling Work?
  • High Value, Fulfilling Work?

?Low value, unfulfilling work can consist of tasks like computer file organization or recording transactions, aka work that is essential to run your business but isn’t necessarily making you a lot of money. High value, unfulfilling work is the tedious work that is essential to getting you paid. These are tasks like invoicing, processing payments, submitting claims, etc.??

Unfulfilling work is usually characterized as repetitive, rule-driven work executed without much creative thinking. This kind of work will burn out your talented, knowledgeable employees who should be using their brain power on high value, highly fulfilling tasks. We want to automate those mundane, unfulfilling tasks with RPA to generate your business more revenue and keep your employees satisfied.?

What are the benefits of RPA??

There are so many upsides to implementing RPA with virtually no downsides. Here is a non-exhaustive list of benefits that come with Robotic Process Automation:?

  1. Eliminate mundane tasks that waste time?
  2. Overcome staffing shortages and get out of the “always hiring” cycle?
  3. Drive labor savings?
  4. Improve client turnaround time?
  5. Streamline complex processes?
  6. Bridge the gap between multiple programs?
  7. Greater accuracy and compliance within your industry?
  8. Higher employee satisfaction and retention?
  9. Improve your business’ risk management?

The Fourth Industrial Revolution?

Automation is the future of all industry. The Economist shows that 90.8% of businesses have already implemented some form of automation. To keep up and stay relevant with the changing market, you need your top human resources focusing on what humans do best – innovating, strategically thinking, and creating.??

If you haven’t taken the step towards automating yet, or if you have and you are ready to go further, EnterBridge is here to help!??
