Getting Started

I am a deeply passionate person.

There are many dozens of things about which I have strong feelings.? That I love to teach, to share, to ponder.?

And what I have found about being passionate about so many things is that it can often produce a sort of paralysis.

You see, I want to talk about the dynamic process of deep and transformative personal development.?

I want to preach about the joy of taking the journey inward.

To shout from the rooftops about going “beyond the glittering wall of success” and having the courage to pursue peace instead of just vaguely hoping for happiness.

I want to encourage and inspire people to look around themselves, to look at themselves, to look within themselves and see if where they are right now is a portal or a problem.? Because we can and so often do get unintentionally off-track with ourselves, our lives, our work, our family, our faith.??

But that’s not the end of the story, it’s just one of the chapters.

Story. That’s another area of outrageous passion for me.? My book, The Tenacious Pursuit of Peace: where to go when success is not enough, isn't just written in a story, it’s an expose of how we live within our own narrative and what we are able to do with that awareness.

And then, there are all things business.

Everything that we teach at Legacy Leadership Institute about business growth and scaling.? The complete top-to-bottom way that we address it – from message and marketing to pricing and positioning, to sales, administration, operations.? From culture and training to finance and planning.?

And then adding in the elegance of execution.

The slow, steady, persistent pace of implementation that helps our clients go decades in months!

It’s so exciting, so exhilarating that when I teach clients in our Deep Dive session, I have to go for a hard run with rock music blaring in my ears just to burn off the adrenaline.

I want to tell everyone everything I know about Leadership.?

And, don’t even get me started on my first love, sales.? What a noble profession it is to have the privilege of helping someone get something that they need, that they want, or doing them that service.?

I have hours and hours of tactics and content that I can and have taught about the craft, the art, the science of selling.?

And with all of those competing loves.

Competing passions.

I often sit and ponder in the perennial words of Andy Williams, “Where do I begin / To tell the story of how great a love can be.”

And while I know that pondering is not doing nothing (more on that another day!), there comes a time when pondering is incomplete and movement must begin.

So today, here’s to the movement!

Here’s to leaping forwards and beginning with new passion, new vigor and just a little less fear.

What are you pondering that you feel you might, just might, be ready to break out of inertia and start to move?

I'm finding the Olympic athletes very inspiring. Their work ethic, to be able to get to the Olympics, to achieve their dreams and goals, is inspiring. Certainly sports also brings its share of disappointment - not everyone goes home with a medal. But some are using past setbacks to fuel better performances at this Olympics. Some have overcome physical setbacks, some have overcome mental health setbacks, and some were just disappointed with past performance, and became determined to do better. Others had setbacks because others were better previously, so they worked to improve their skills, to do better this time. It is this overcoming of setbacks which I find the most inspiring. May we all take this approach to inevitable setbacks!
