Getting started with Conversion Rate Optimisation

You listen to all the eCom pros talk about Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO), and you think to yourself: Is this for only for enterprise brands or should i be doing it too? ??

The short answer is: If you’ve nailed your product market fit, Media buying and Retention, This is the next lever you can pull

Let me break it down for you

What the f**k is CRO

It’s when you conduct tests and make changes to your website to increase conversions. These could be anything, Add to cart, email sign ups or any other action you want your website visitors to take

Ok, so I'm a CRO noob, how do i get started?

You can get started with a 4 step process

Stage 1: Identify the areas of improvement.

Shortlist the problem area. So if your product page isn’t converting as it should, you have your problem area identified

Stage 2: Form a hypothesis

Say for example, your hypothesis is that by tweaking copy on your product page, you would be able to getting higher conversions

Stage 3: Test, Test ,Test

Start conducting A/B tests and ensure you have your Google Analytics set up correctly.

Stage 4: Analyze data

Once you’ve conducted the tests, it’s time to analyze what worked and what didn’t.

Got it, but what should i be testing?

Good question, here’s a list of tests you can run

Homepage

  • Welcome Bars
  • Pop-ups
  • Pop-up offers
  • Social Proof on home page

Product Pages

  • Product copy
  • Social Proof
  • Reviews
  • Images
  • CTA buttons

These are just some of the tests, you can literally test anything

TL;DR:

Minor tweaks to copy, offer and images have the power to add precious dollars to your bottom line. So get testing
