Getting Into Sitecore is Not Easy, But It's Worth It, Here's Why.
Sitecore has become one of the most popular Enterprise Level content management systems and it continues to grow in usage & popularity.
This has resulted in many of those companies and technical partners (digital agencies) implementing the system to be always looking for highly talented people to help deliver these implementations. The demand on Sitecore developers keeps rising.
As a developer you might ask why would I be interested to get into this anyway? I've looked it up and it doesn't seem easy to get into it.
For those who've never heard of Sitecore, here's a quick intro for you to get introduced to it.
Briefly, Sitecore is one of the leading enterprise-level content management systems built on ASP .NET, enabling web content editors and marketers to have full control over all aspects of their website from social integration and blog posts to advanced personalisation, e-commerce and more. Launched in 2001, Sitecore has used the .NET platform from the beginning of the language itself, and has been growing in popularity over the last few year.
While it is true getting into Sitecore has been a bit difficult and complicated seeing that you need a licence to be able install the software.
But now it has never been easier, with Sitecore offering a 60 day trial licence for developers, that's more than enough time to establish if this is something for you or not.
If it is, that's also enough time for you to build your first web site in Sitecore and prove your real life expertise.
As a product, Sitecore is easy to learn about. Assuming you have a decent knowledge in C# and the .NET framework, you are good to go with development too.
While it can be challenging sometimes working with the more complex components, Search & integrating with other applications, but who want to work with a boring, simple system? This is something for those hungry to get their hands dirty with a challenge.
On the financial front, a Sitecore developer can earn £10k/year more than if they'd go down the good ol' C# development route. That's you bagging at least £10k on your salary if you're a mid-level developer, this can be a lot higher if your experience grows.
