Money is near and dear to everybody, it is the fuel that shapes so many people's destinies and often defines what our opportunities are in life. There are few things that matter more than helping someone understand how to use and save their money effectively and purposefully, and to develop a healthy relationship with its influence.
The number of ways we can invest our money have grown exponentially over the last few decades with an increasing array of financial products and services available. As people become more educated about the possibilities, and newer trends in finance evolve (derivatives, ETFs, robo-advisors, cryptocurrencies, etc.), a paradox of choice often takes hold and a fear of missing out seeps in, raising the question: Am I making the right decisions with my money?
As we’ve invented new ways to make investments and payments more "frictionless", our perception of and use of money has the potential to be both consciously and unconsciously manipulated. It’s not always clear to consumers whether and how they can manage their preferences around rapidly evolving financial products and services.
It is our job, in working with our financial services clients, to help people understand these forces and create healthy habits to guard against products and services that seek to manipulate rather than serve customers and their financial wellbeing.
I believe that Cantina is helping to create a better future for people and their relationship with money by working closely with financial services clients to deliver products and services that are simple to use and easy to understand. Products and services that educate and serve customer needs, and help customers to develop smart financial planning and sustainable investment habits. We are proud of our work in financial services, and we look forward to continuing to work closely with our clients to help them build experiences that customers enjoy, want and need.
Last week we acquired a small strategic design and technology development agency called Results Imperative. The founders Matt and Mike have over 20 years of experience in the financial services sector designing and building financial planning and retirement readiness tools. I am thrilled that Mike and Matt have decided to join us at Cantina. Last week we chatted for over two hours about all of the ways that they have helped clients think through the design and development of financial planning tools, products and services. I was amazed with how clearly they can communicate complex ideas in a simple way, i.e., what works, what doesn’t. It was energizing to know that Cantina now has this capability in-house.
Their experience in helping people to understand, visualize, and explore the impact of different investment strategies is the first step in a lifelong journey towards building healthy habits around money and financial planning.. It's their second week at Cantina, and I am excited to see what we can do together to help create a better financial future for people, everywhere.
