What do you want to do? Are you suffering from paralysis by analysis? Are you even overthinking your next steps? Does the 80/20 rule frighten you? Well, here are some tips to narrowing your focus to attain the meaningful and permanent change.
Write down ten goals that you would like to accomplish. Also list where you are in starting those goals. Consolidate as many goals as you can by determining which goals are interdependent of each other. Some goals may be necessary or primary in order for you to realistically accomplish other goals.
Because meaningful and permanent change requires such laser focus, consistency and commitment you must narrow the goals to see achievement. One of the largest detractors from individuals accomplishing their goals is having too many goals. Have you ever talked to someone who sounds extremely motivated to achieve a goal? They have all the sound bites down. But they are also all over the place. They want to stop poverty and cure cancer while ceasing all global conflicts. You cannot help to think this person will not do a thing because they want to eat their elephant in one fell swoop.
Success begets more success. Its the law of attraction in full effect. One goal accomplished fuels the engine needed to drive the vehicle to the next goal. And so on and so on. Do not confuse this with starting with small goals. The goals may still be large but the action steps or secondary dependent goals must be smart or Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely.
As you walk down those goals and the momentum snowballs you will see that no goal is entirely unattainable. During this journey is where you will also meet others walking your path and combine efforts to increase your impact both individually as well as collectively.
But for all of these great things to happen you must first determine the goal(s) and secondary goals that the primary goals depend on to become a reality.
