This past year, motherhood has taught me more about resilience, patience, and love than I ever thought possible. Becoming a mom to my baby boy has been the most rewarding journey, but let’s be real—it’s also been one of the most challenging. I’ve juggled sleepless nights, endless feedings, work deadlines, and the emotional tug-of-war of being present while managing a full-time job. It’s been a whirlwind, but through it all, I’ve learned so much about myself.
Recently, I learned a fascinating fact about flamingos. Did you know they temporarily lose their pink color while raising their chicks? The intense demands of parenting draw from the very nutrients that give them their vibrant hue. It struck me deeply—how much of ourselves we give away, piece by piece, in the process of nurturing another life.
In the spirit of setting a goal for myself as we enter a new year, I’ve decided it’s time to get my pink back.
2025 is going to be the year of rediscovery and renewal. It’s not about “bouncing back” or becoming who I was before my son was born; it’s about becoming the best version of myself as I grow alongside him.
My Goals for 2025
1. Running Toward Strength and Confidence
One of the ways I plan to reconnect with myself is through running. Before motherhood, running was my therapy—a time when I could clear my head and feel strong. This year, I’m lacing up my running shoes again, with my sights set on a half marathon in July. It’s not just about crossing the finish line; it’s about reclaiming my endurance and celebrating what my body is capable of after everything it’s been through.
2. Starting a Side-Hustle
Why not add a little spice to my year? I’m brainstorming ways to start a side-hustle. It’s not just about extra income; it’s about exploring my passions, building something of my own, and showing my son that it’s never too late to chase your dreams.

3. Leaning Into Personal Growth
This year, I’m committed to becoming more intentional about my personal growth. Whether it’s reading, taking courses, or seeking mentorship, I want to focus on learning and evolving.
4. Practicing Boundaries Every Day
Boundaries are something I’ve struggled with, but motherhood has shown me just how vital they are. This year, I’ll not only set boundaries but actively practice them. Whether it’s protecting my personal time, saying “no” when needed, spending time with close friends and family who I miss dearly (looking right at you Shannon) or carving out self-care moments, I’m determined to create a life that feels balanced and fulfilling.
5. Redefining Success
This year, I’m letting go of the old metrics of success—the titles, the promotions, the constant chase for the next big thing. Success, for me, is no longer defined by how others perceive my achievements but by how fulfilled I feel in my day-to-day life. It’s about genuinely enjoying what I do, finding purpose in my work, and having the balance to savor moments with my family, my passions, and myself. If the past year has taught me anything, it’s that life is too short to spend it climbing a ladder that doesn’t lead to happiness.
With this shift in mindset, I’m embracing a version of success that feels authentic to me—a life where career growth and personal joy coexist, and where my time and energy are spent on what truly matters.
Embracing My Journey
Motherhood has forever changed me, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. But just like the flamingo, I’ve learned that I can’t give from an empty well. My pink represents my joy, confidence, and passion—and 2025 is my year to reclaim it.
If you’re a mom, a working parent, or someone who’s ever felt like you’ve lost a piece of yourself in giving to others, I hope you’ll join me on this journey. Let’s support each other as we rediscover who we are and what makes us shine.
Here’s to 2025—my year of renewal, growth, and, of course, a whole lot of pink.
