Getting Kids to PLAY More

We had a BLAST! The Montgomery TennisPlex & Datlow Tennis hosted the USTA/ MAS Intro to Tournament Play 10u Orange Level 2 & Boys & Girls 12u L8. We had over 25 players learning to compete, exhibit great sportsmanship, and HAVE FUN! This was nearly everyone's first tournament, and we know they will be back. 

Sportsmanship was a big focus of the event-- with a male AND female player earning very big sportsmanship awards! Players were invited to fill out nomination forms if they witnessed another player displaying great sportsmanship.

Datlow Tennis directed the USTA Intro Tournament. Over 115 "STARS" and "TROPHIES" were awarded for our 10 and under players, and everyone can't wait to earn more! All players received USTA ranking points for participating, but this was only a small part of their experience. Kids want to have fun and PLAY. While we supervised the matches, most of what we did was allow the kids do what they came to do-- have fun. We can't wait to host another entry level USTA tournament, and it is clear that these players are hungry to get back onto the tennis court!!! The USTA has hit the nail on the head with their 10 and under pathway that encourages kids to PLAY on the tennis court.
