Getting a Job as a Step to Create Your Own Business

Getting a Job as a Step to Create Your Own Business

Running a business is not an easy task.

In the last two decades, I have helped plenty of businesses, managing the bread and butter of a few big and small companies.

I advise best practices, lead teams, control budgets, implement new technologies, and document new processes, standards and procedures. Assist hundreds of individuals in creating their journey.

How often do we stress out, argue with others, neglect our families and friends, and well-being over time for something that is not ours?

That thought

Very often, one question keeps creeping into my mind, “ Well, why don’t you start your own business?

And I look around and see several successful individuals that started their businesses, able to pursue their ambitions, with their ups and downs.

?

Get Yourself a Job

Having a job can be very fulfilling. You get your pension, perks, stable, predictable income and occasionally you can have that holidays with all your family.

But sometimes you feel that you should be doing something else. You think that something is not correct.

Like somehow you are trapped in this cycle of what you have witnessed in the past, something you thought had long gone, to see them in a different place with different people.

Reading how people in the past dealt with or viewed salaried jobs, it’s easy to determine that people had their careers in the past. They only work for someone else to get money to start their business or earn extra income to scale their business.

?When did Salaried Started?

Salaried jobs are very recent and started in the early 18th century.

So it’s a very new thing.

How did this happen

This happened when businesses began to offer a set salary in exchange for their time and work instead of paying them by the hour. Back then, most people had their businesses. And if you had a few hours free, you could use them to get some extra money and be back for lunch to attend your business.

To have a more predictable workforce, these businesses, without the resource of slavery, began to “negotiate” salaries and hours that a person would need to obtain income.

And thus, with the help of institutions like schools, universities, government lobbyists, etc.

We now accept as a norm that working for others is as natural as water. And we condition our kids to follow our steps.

We have become complacent.

Why don’t we have lessons about accounting fundamentals? Why dealing with money is not part of the curriculum?

The real question is, why don’t we do it?

Could it be because of the mortgage, the lifestyle, or because the majority is doing it?

It is hard to tell. So many people do the jump, while others praise those that don’t.

I advocate that, if you can, you have a second job, with the primary focus should be your business. But, if not, a second job that allows you some lifestyle, just in case you are laid off or worst.

Is it because being self-employed is considered a bad thing in our minds?

Fear?

Or have we lost conviction and self-belief?

Or because we have been in a position of submission from school to the workplace?

Self-belief, self-discipline, and having time to invest in oneself are very often put aside for many reasons.

How do I start?

What’s the option, the magic word, the secret tip or the trick to make it happen?

We need to start doing the same way we invest our time in watching a movie, zapping channels, or playing a video game.

Asking for advice or even hiring a professional is all you need to kickstart and see yourself from a different perspective.

Use what you already know and practice, start small, learn from your mistakes and create your foundation.

It’s hard to surpass that mental wall, but once you get your routine in place, you will ask, why didn’t I start this sooner?

Don’t let a contract stop your creativity and ambitions. You can have both.

I really like the essay, I have been looking for a job for more than two years, and I could not find one yet. I am done with the answers like: (you are over qualified, less qualified, need more references, or even not fit to the career). I need to start my own career, but I am scared and I do not know from where I have to start.
