Getting A job is SALES!!!!

Getting A job is SALES!!!!

You may not want to admit it, but getting a job is Sales.

You need to take yourself to market, you need to promote yourself, pitch yourself and put your self out there, for others to see.

This is not something that sits well with most people, its uncomfortable, its opening you up to criticism, its making you feel vulnerable, but its the only way to get yourself the job you want and deserve.

The world has changed and you need to be on the front foot, to ensure you are in the race for any job that you desire.

Think of job searching like Business Development, you have to get out there and promote yourself, so others see you and want to talk to you.

This starts with your LinkedIn profile, which is essentially your "Shop Window" the idea of your LinkedIn/Shop Window, is to entice people in to get to know you and know more about who you are and what you do.

Add a profile banner, outlining who you are and what you do and a semi professional/credible photo, showing you in a good personal light.

So make your profile inviting and interesting and credible, so you grab peoples attention.

Once you have their attention, you need to keep it, by adding Presentations and Case studies to demonstrate and promote your work and capability, alongside recommendations and references.

Add skills and achievements, plus qualifications and any personal hobbies and interests that promote your ability and value add from a "Soft Skills" perspective.

How do you get seen? You need to network, connect and follow people from companies you want to work for and sectors you want to be a part of! Like their posts and get involved in the discussion, by commenting valuable comments and engaging them in discussions.

Join groups, and start posting sector relevant topics and tag people in to get their opinions.

Finally, create a 30 second elevator pitch or introduction video and pin it to your posts/page. This should be about who you are and what you do and value you add. Use tangible facts and figures to demonstrate improvement etc.

Now you have the profile that people want to see, get out there and use it, start connecting and start conversations and start pitching people.

Whatever you do, dont just hit "Easy Apply" this gives you a 2% chance of getting an interview! Find the hiring manager and connect and write a professional message that grabs their attention, remember, "Who you are, what you do, how you do it and the value you bring" Tangible and Factual information that demonstrates value add and improvement.
