Getting Creative to Come Up with a Win / Win Deal

Getting Creative to Come Up with a Win / Win Deal

Several weeks ago, a construction company sent us an email through our website looking to sell some 66” x 1” wall x 20 ft pipe that was left over from a project cancellation. This is not typically an easy item to sell because we don’t get calls on this type of item very often and not to mention it is very expensive to product. We would normally buy this kind of material knowing that it is a tough item to sell , but it would have to be cheap.  In this particular scenario the seller was not interested in that cheap number so I told him I would try and use my network to see if we have any buyers that need this size. Weeks went buy and I got a call from a customer that needed some 66” pipe. What a coincidence!! It doesn’t always work out this way but sometimes it does. Even though there was a need it took some creativity to figure out how to make the pricing work.  Because my customer was using this pipe for an underground tunnel, he was going to need to weld those 20 ft sections into 60 footers. So what we proposed was to have the seller weld the pipes together into 60 footers so that the buyer could increase the purchase price. So at the end of the day the buyer got a turn key product that they needed and the seller got a price they needed for their surplus pipe
