Getting Competencies and Values off the PDFs/PPTs

While consulting with some of our clients at Jombay, I always wondered why there was a disconnect between what employees were measured on and what the Organization’s Competency framework or Values described! I have concluded that there are two primary reasons:

1: Trouble finding a tool that measures the exact Competencies & Values

If a company somehow manages to find something that seemingly works, they have to pay a bomb to convert the assessment report to their competencies. In such cases, the competency assessment never happens. The competency framework just stays a nice looking PDF (with the company logo beaming from the bottom corner!)

2: Buying standard (off-the-shelf) tools to measure Competencies & Values

The major challenge here is making sense of the generic reports and interpreting them in terms of the Company's Competency framework. This work is handed off to the HR executives, who may not have the right training for it.

New-age Psychometrics and technology (based on a trait theory approach) enables us to customize Competency based Assessments (including HiPo/Leadership identification, 360 degree) perfectly to a Company’s Competency framework.

If you are curious to see how, please feel free to send me your Competency framework - I will get a report generated on Jombay's system exactly to the framework and share it with you. We have done this at Citi, Nestle, Taj Hotels, WNS, Kotak Life, Edelweiss Capital, GHCL, EICL and several other companies of varying sizes.

Time to get the Competencies and Values out of that nicely done PDF :) Please share your experiences in Competency Assessments.

Warm regards,
Mohit Gundecha
