Getting Clarity on your Marketing

Getting Clarity on your Marketing

The business bumbled along because I didn't understand marketing

Does that sound familiar? That sums up my first business back in 2003. And it sums up many of the small businesses that I come across every day.

As a small business owner, you have to become a marketer of what you do rather than (or as well as) a doer of what you do. Otherwise, nobody will hear about you.

But it's not good enough to just do some marketing. It has to be the right marketing, to the right people.

Back in that first business, my business partner and I began to realsie we needed to do some marketing. So we tried a few things but, frankly, we didn't have a clue. We earned a living but it was a real rollercoaster of feast or famine.

Eventually, my business partner decided to return to corporate life and I started again. This time, I was determined to learn how to market my business properly.

I joined various entrepreneur groups and a marketing mastermind so I could learn from people who really knew what they were talking about.

This newsletter is my way of sharing what I have learned. Not just the theory, but it's practical application in the businesses I have subsequently run.

I will take you on a marketing journey to enable you to identify what will work for you and how to apply it.

We will start with a few basic principles because it's surprising how many people don't know them or ignore them.

But this journey will only be of benefit if you take action. Knowledge is power, but action generates results.

Your call to action

So your first Action is to subscribe to this newsletter. That way you will get notified about each new edition.

Your second Action is to tell me what you are currently struggling with in your marketing. Comment below and I'll build those topics into my publishing plan.

I'm really looking forward to helping you make 2022 your best year ever - despite the pandemic. See you in two weeks time.

I would love to know how to market correctly and effectively to potential customers in their language, that talks to them and speaks to their heart, rather than coming across as an automated standard 'hi, please check this out', 'hi, just wondering if you've had time to check this out', 'hi, it's been a week and I see you haven't checked this out .... blah, blah, blah' approach (which is all I seem to get in my Inbox lately).
