Getting Back On Track
After a hiatus, this newsletter is back. The plan was to come out of the holidays and write straight away. However, I had limited time and focus, and other things were more pressing (such as the day job and my application to rejoin the Reserves).
Before Christmas, I was honoured to share breakfast with Peter Rosengard. He's a legend in the life insurance business, and I learned a lot from him during this brief encounter. After sharing my story with him, he gave me a book recommendation that has truly impacted me. I've taken several ideas from the book that I've implemented and am seeing early results.
Business is ticking up, and I'm onboarding more clients. Impacting clients' lives and helping them achieve their goals is incredibly satisfying. Once out of the woods, I plan to share the financials, what it's taken and lessons learned along the way. At this point, I'm aware it's mostly younger advisers and financial advisers reading this newsletter.

I'm back in the Army Reserve. It is a familiar and welcoming environment, and I look forward to getting stuck. I felt I would return; I didn't know when. It's a great way to continue developing and something which doesn't impact the day job - it rather complements it.
My father, Philip Beck has just launched his YouTube channel! "Optimise your retirement – live your best life". He can never sit still and loves a project. What helps is that his journey inspires his content – and he is doing this to help others. As a former professional musician, Army Officer, Software Engineer, and lastly, teacher, he's full of life experience and valuable lessons. His other popular channel is Dr Bass. He plays bass alongside popular tracks.
A good childhood friend, Dino Tomic, rekindled after years of silence. His name on Instagram is dinotomic, He was a big supporter and fan whilst I was DJing. He was always first on the dancefloor and attended every gig I did. Since I left Norway, he's become an influencer within the art world. Incredibly talented, some of his artwork was commissioned and gifted to the Royal Palace in Norway. Now, with a family in tow, he's focused his projects on other areas, such as video games.
On Friday 28th February was another fantastic FinVet event. Organised by Richard Lodge . Veterans and those working in financial services are coming together.

Client portals are great for some clients, but others don't get on with them. I've recently come across MailLock – the free account gives you five monthly emails to send securely. @paul holland
