Getting Back on the Team!
For those of you who've known me for a few years, you know I am no stranger when it comes to running on the weekends and signing up for the occasional 10K or Half Marathon here in the Bay Area.
For those of you who met me as far back as 2008, just a couple years after graduating from St. Mary's College in small-town Moraga, California, you know that what started my love affair with running goes far beyond physical fitness. It's the emotional, mental and spiritual growth that comes with training for and beginning each race, and it all began when I involved myself with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training (TNT).
After training & volunteering as a mentor for multiple seasons, Team in Training found its way back into my life and I have decided to dedicate my time, mind and body over the next 6 months, to fundraising and taking the plunge toward training for my first marathon in 7 years... the TCS New York City Marathon on November 3, 2019! And with a goal to raise $6,000 in support of blood cancer research.
While I have actively kept up with running over the years, let me assure you that this will be nothing shy of daunting!
So while I am out on the roads, tracks and treadmills this summer and fall, you can support me by donating and living vicariously through my adventures, which I will be writing about here: Iya's Next Chapter
Your donation will help fund treatments that save lives every day; like immunotherapies that use a person’s own immune system to kill cancer. You may not know it, but every single donation helps save a life with breakthrough therapies such as these.
Please consider making a donation of any amount in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help get us all closer to a world without blood cancers. I also encourage you to take advantage of your corporate gift matching programs through your employers.

Please pass on this link to any friends or contacts who would be interested in contributing and/or reading about my journey, one mile and one dollar at a time.
Thank you for all your support,
Iya
