Getting back into the swing of things

Getting back into the swing of things

I don't know about you but despite the packed diary I still feel like I've not quite got up to full speed work-wise. This year I scaled right back on work over the summer to spend time with my 5 year old, which was lovely except for all the rain! I took social media apps off my phone and found myself feeing brighter and more positive as a result.

This year I took the day that my son returned to school off work and climbed a little feel. It was the perfect way to decompress from all day everyday childcare before jumping back into the new projects that awaited me. I'm going to do that after every school holiday because "me time" is essential for my mental health.

Gender equity

It's been a summer full of highs and lows for women on the equity front from the gloriously successful Women's World Cup to the actions of Luis Rubiales. I have particularly enjoyed watching Mary Earps own her value and Nike's u-turn on selling her replica kit.

Yesterday was International Equal Pay Day and according to the World Economic Forum women’s economic participation has regressed rather than recovered. That is based on global figures but as The Guardian reminded us back in April, women are still paid less than men at 4 out of 5 employers in Britain.

Finding focus

If you're feeling overwhelmed this Autumn then have a listen to this week's episode of the Influence & Impact podcast where I chat to author Julia Wolfendale about how to find focus when you're feeling overwhelmed.

Going global

I'm excited to share that I'm collaborating with Luis A. Torres and Michelle Barquet at Leadership Foresight to offer my courses for women and allies in Spanish globally. Please get in touch with them if you have Spanish speaking employees and are looking to support and develop the women in your organisation.

Confidence course

As you know I believe gender inequity in the workplace and gender bias within society can cause women to doubt themselves and lose confidence. Our Be Bolder course has helped 94% of participants feel more confident and be more willing to have challenging conversations. The last open cohort of Be Bolder 2023 start next month and you can sign up as an individual or book multiple people on.
