Getting back to Normal

I experienced a very positive and eventful Memorial Day weekend despite the continued COVID-19 restrictions. I saw my parents for the first time in over 2-months as I went to their summer home for a bratwurst cookout and also saw my sibling’s families as well. I was able to launch my 16’ sloop and set it up in the South Bay marina in Green Bay for another season of sailing. Finally, as a Post Commander for a veterans group I had sent out a letter a week earlier notifying members of an optional Memorial Day ceremony at various cemeteries. When I arrived at the first cemetery I notice the parking lot was full and approximately ten veteran members and various family members were at the cemeteries to observe the ceremony. They were all very gracious that the event was held. Finally, to top it off the weather for all three holiday days was sunny despite rain being predicted several days earlier. I observed many people still practicing social distancing guidelines although I think about only a third of the people in the retail stores are wearing masks and believe this percentage is dropping. I am looking forward to seeing my clients face to face next week and have advised them of my safety procedures earlier.
