Stop. Just stop.
I cannot stand the name calling, blaming and disrespectful behavior. I don’t like the behavior within our country right now. For the record, I am not representing either political party in this post, because both parties, in my opinion, are acting like spoiled children.
We need to get back to decent human values in this country. We’ve forgotten the way we were raised. You may criticize the way our parents raised us for being old school, but I think we need to get back to some of those “old school” basic values.
- You are no better or no worse than anyone else.
- You may not like everyone or they may not like you, but you still need to be respectful, especially to your elders.
- Help those in need for someday that may be you.
- If you can’t say something nice, say nothing at all.
- Sometimes you need your mouth washed out with soap.
- God and family should always come first.
- Be appreciative for what you have, no matter how small, because others would love to have those things.
- People are starving in other countries, so eat what you take.
- Hope springs eternal.
I think about how hard our parents worked to offer us kids a better life. I’m sure this is NOT what they had in mind. I worry about my own child. What kind of world are we creating and what kind of example are we setting of acceptable behaviors. This behavior is NOT acceptable!
I’ve always been proud of our country. For the first time in my life, I feel fear. I fear we are losing what makes us great, makes us winners.
The bad guys are getting all the attention, creating all the noise. And we’re allowing it to consume us and divide us. Too many are following in that bad behavior, because they can get away with it. We watch in horror the senseless acts of violence. And we blame those acts on people who are blameless, not the bad people who actually do bad things. And we turn a blind eye on what is missing. Basic human decency.
We need to stop. We need to stop now.
