Not getting any responses to your job applications? Here’s why.

Is there anything more disheartening than finding an amazing role on Linkedin…only to see that over 500 people have already applied for it?

If you are aiming for the more competitive companies (think the Google’s, Facebook’s and Nike’s of the world), you will be used to seeing over 500 applicants for one role.

But even if you aren’t applying for household names, the online application system has become so broken that hundreds of applicants are going for every role we see on Linkedin.?

And typically of those multiple 100’s, only a few CV’s actually get read.

In fact, I know first hand that if 1000 people apply for a role, the Hiring Manager might look at 20-30 CV’s at the most.

Definitely NOT anywhere near 1000.

Which means there are 970 odd people who spent the weekend putting their heart and soul into an application…only for it to disappear into the black hold of the internet.

That’s pretty tough to hear right?!

That application you spend all weekend one… NO ONE SAW IT!

Linkedin has democratised job hunting. This was meant to be a good thing.

But what really happened is that it created a broken system, where anyone can apply for any role.

And they do.?

The whole world.?

People who have permission to work. And people who don’t.

People who have the right skills. And people who don’t.

People who have the right number of years of experience. And people who don’t.

And on and on.

And this is why your applications aren’t getting seen.?

Because the system is fundamentally broken.

The bad news?

You aren’t going to fix the system.?

The good news??

You can learn the rules of the new system and start playing a completely different game to everyone who is still applying for role on Linkedin and thinking their CV is getting seen.
